Functions
v Our purpose is to develop and implement programs, practices, and procedures for the maintenance of the county’s roads and bridges for the Department of Public Works while exercising independent judgments and initiatives in the operation of the department in a cost efficient, professional manner.
v The Public Works department provides road grading to unpaved roads. We provide bush hog maintenance to these roads, plus approximately 19.8 miles of paved roads.
v The hauling and placement of materials such as coquina, slag, clay, and dirt are performed daily in order to provide and maintain safe traveling surfaces.
v Drainage maintenance is performed through the operation of backhoes, track hoes, and ditching machines in order to maintain and keep clear roads side ditches and outfall ditches.
